Flame is a cartoon-y couch-coop styled game, where you and your friends will have to cooperate in order to explore the wilderness.
Each character has a special class with abilities to help you discover new areas. Gather resources, fuel the fire and make your way to the top.
LOCAL MUTLIPLAYER & CHARACTER CLASSES
My primary responsibility on the project was developing the local multiplayer system, handling four players with full controller support.
Each character was designed with a unique class, featuring distinct attributes and abilities to enhance exploration and gameplay diversity.
INVENTORY & RESOURCE SYSTEM
Players can gather materials scattered across the map to fuel the campfire, create shortcuts by tying ropes, and repair bridges to unlock new areas.
I was in charge of creating an inventory system that supported gathering, using and dropping items on the ground. I also had to tie everything to the user interface so that players could easily check their resources amount.


CHARACTER & UI ANIMATIONS
A big part of this project was also implementing 3D animations each character, and tying them to each action while handling lots of edgecases.
It was also the first time that I worked with camera animation coroutines for the main menu UI, handling user inputs and delays until the camera travelled to another part of the level.
The development of this game was a significant challenge, as unforeseen circumstances led me to write 95% of the game’s codebase on my own, even though we were three game programmers. It's a project I'm really proud of because of that.
It was also my first experience working under real time pressure, requiring several entire nights to ensure all features were implemented and fully functional by the deadline.
